Award-winning Florida artist Jerry Hooper is self-taught under the influence of several local artists in Brevard County, of which he is a lifelong resident.

Hooper developed a love for nature in his work with rare palms as a landscape designer. He began painting while on a palm tree expedition in the jungles of the Dominican Republic, then returned home to take painting lessons.
Hooper began his studies in earnest at the Art Students Guild in Historic Downtown Melbourne, where he studied abstract expressionism, portraiture and realistic painting techniques.

Hooper's artwork includes stunning Florida landscapes that focus on the play of light in clouds and across vast undeveloped wetlands. He also uses Fauvist style colors in his abstract works, juxtaposing cold mechanics against the backdrop of nature. In addition, his still-life works capture natural, as well as elemental objects.

Hooper exhibits in juried art shows throughout the country, and in the new Jerry Hooper Art Gallery & Studio, 909 East New Haven, Suite 302, in Historic Downtown Melbourne.
